Studio Etiquette
Studio Expectations & Etiquette
At Anthem Dance Academy, we want every dancer to feel welcomed, supported, and ready to learn. Our studio expectations are designed to create a positive, safe, and professional learning environment where dancers can build confidence, develop strong technique, make friendships, and enjoy being part of the Anthem dance family.Dance education also teaches skills that extend beyond the studio, including preparation, respect, responsibility, teamwork, and perseverance. We ask our dancers, families, instructors, and staff to work together to create an environment where everyone can do their best.
Come ready to dance. Arrive on time and dressed according to your class attire guidelines. Hair should be secured neatly away from the face, and jewelry should be limited to small stud earrings. Bring water, but please leave food and other drinks outside of the dance studio.Be ready to learn. Enter the studio when invited by your instructor and be prepared to begin class. Give your instructor your attention, listen to corrections, ask questions when appropriate, and make an effort to apply feedback. Mistakes are an important part of learning, so there is no need to apologize for trying something new or getting a step wrong.Bring a positive attitude. Dance can be challenging, and progress looks different for every student. We encourage dancers to approach class with confidence, effort, positive body language, and a willingness to try.Support your dance family. Treat instructors and fellow dancers with kindness and respect. Celebrate one another's progress, avoid disruptive conversations during instruction, and help create a classroom where everyone feels comfortable learning.Respect the studio. Walk while inside the studio, avoid horseplay, and treat barres, mirrors, equipment, and furnishings appropriately. Please clean up after yourself and leave each space ready for the dancers who come next.Plan ahead. Whenever possible, use the restroom before class begins. Regular attendance and arriving on time help dancers get the most from their training. Arriving more than 15 minutes late may prevent a dancer from safely participating in class, particularly when warm-ups or important instruction have already occurred.Dance. Learn. Grow. Belong. ❤️
You're Part of the Anthem Family, TooFamilies play an important role in creating a successful dance experience. Our parent waiting and work area is available during classes, giving families a comfortable place to relax, work, or wait while dancers are in the studio.During class: To help dancers stay focused and instructors maintain the learning environment, parents and guests should remain in designated waiting areas unless invited into the studio by an instructor. There will be opportunities throughout the year for families to see what their dancers have been learning.Drop-Off & Pick-Up: Families of young dancers should accompany their child inside for drop-off and come inside for pick-up. Please arrive promptly at the end of class. If you're unexpectedly delayed, contact the studio so we can make sure your dancer is supervised until you arrive.Questions & Conversations: We love hearing from our families. Because instructors often move directly from one class to another, the few minutes between classes aren't always the best time for a detailed conversation. For questions that need more attention, please contact the Anthem administrative team or send a message through TeacherZone. We can coordinate with your dancer's instructor and schedule a conversation when needed.Concerns: If something about your dancer's experience isn't meeting your expectations, please reach out to the Anthem administrative team. We want families to communicate concerns early so we can understand what is happening, work with the instructor when appropriate, and help find a solution. Email theada210@gmail.com or send a text to 210-660-8475.
Consistency helps dancers grow. Regular attendance allows students to build skills progressively and keeps the entire class moving forward together. If your dancer will miss class, arrive late, or needs to leave early, please notify Anthem whenever possible. Dancers arriving more than 15 minutes after class begins may be asked to observe rather than participate if they have missed the warm-up or if joining the class would not be safe or appropriate. For younger dancers, we encourage families to arrive a few minutes early so students have time to use the restroom, change shoes, put away belongings, and be ready when class begins.Anthem Dance Academy requires a 24-hour notice if your student cannot make it to class to be eligible for a reschedule or to audit another session. No-shows or late cancels are not eligible for reschedules, and can obtain class notes within Teacherzone.
More Than Dance. A Family. The best studio experiences happen when dancers, families, instructors, and staff work together. We appreciate your help in creating an environment that is safe, encouraging, respectful, and fun for every member of the Anthem family.Whether your dancer is taking their very first class or working toward their next big goal, we want Anthem to be a place where they are excited to walk through the door.Dance. Learn. Grow. Belong.
